The Derek Zoolander Center For Kids Who Can't Read Good AKA Bookcase Planning Phase 1

This room needs a bookcase.  Now I have to say I'm biting my nails just dreaming up all the knick knacks that Jo will try and stick inside this not yet existing bookcase.  I also know my older brother has some weird DVD display concepts brewing.  So it is of the up most importance for me to shut these ideas down right away.  I have been gathering some ideas of how I want the book case to look.. It will be painted in a high gloss dark gray (I think).
this is actually a nightmare.  the lines on the front of it for speakers is sooo 80's.  But I do like the flat panel cabinets.  I do not like the weird storage below the TV either.  The plan is to hang the TV.
As much as I like to look at pictures of bookcase from magazines and blogs.  These pictures that are from real peoples homes somehow helps me figure out how exactly to create this focal point in the room. (I hope none of these pictures are of any of your homes)
This one is actually really bad. yikes.  But I like the idea of storage underneath for blankets, DVDs etc.  Keep an eye out I'm going to draw my own book case for the guys to build off of. Cathy (I need u for this clearly)
Here is Carl Lagerfeld's book collection.  Amazing.  I'm pretty sure as a family we own about 20 books right now .  Considering I took about 40 of them for the event we did last week. Thanks JO!  Here is a picture of the vases we made for a party we did at the Modern Wing of the Art Institute

Sunset Ranch Paint Palette

Here it is...I must admit I was a little rushed because I had to go to the bathroom so bad and there are no toilets in the house yet. Plus my superiors were there (my sisters) insisting that the colors I picked out were in fact not colors. I had to explain that the house get so much natural light that it is important to keep the palette light. I did some of the bathrooms darker because they have no windows. Some of the color swatches don't look exact because of the scanning but close enough. The Kitchen is white but a warm white with no yellow in it. I want to keep the kitchen light and airy because the cabinets are so dark, but I don't want it to hurt your eyes in the morning. It was also important for me to use colors that change with the natural light and would transition well from room to room. For example you can see into K&K room from down the hall, so it is important to make sure that their room color is harmonious with the hall color.

Bored yet?

It's time to pick out paint!

I am currently working on the paint colors for the house. The only thing for certain is that the kitchen will be a warm white. (white without any yellow in it.)  I'm thinking Martha Stuart Picket Fence.

But for the entry room and front hall I really want a gray. The kitchen cabinets are dark gray and I want the house to flow well. So far I'm thinking Stonington Gray (second from the right). I also like horizon (not pictured). This room gets a ton of natural light so I think going a touch darker like stonington will look richer.

K&K are going to use the color on the right called ice cubed silver it's not quite blue and not quite purple.

Laverne Georgian Redo

I know all five of you people who read this blog like to be in the know (two of you are actually involved) so I thought you would like to see the new project in the works with my dad and ub.  It's an awesome house.  Keep in eye on the progress at Laverne Georgian redo

If these walls could talk...

It's all happening!!!!
Finally!  All the plumbing is done and we passed inspections and now we have walls!!
The wall pictured above is where the tv book case is going to be built.

Here is the wall on the right when you walk in the front door.  That openening is the extra-large closet where my mom can hoard her family coat/shoe collection.
This is my famous false wall that separates the kitchen and the family room.  If you head right your in the girls wing head left and your in Nics room (or as Dom calls it Nee Wee's Playhouse)

This is heading down toward the girls room (the first door way opening on the left is the bathroom) and you have a clear view into the twins room.
Here is the twins room. The beds will go under the long windows and the windows will serve as headboards.  In between the beds will be a long desk for them to do what ever it is 14 year olds do.

Here is Jen and Jordyns room. Same as the twins room but they get twice as much light because they get windows from the front of the house.

Nic's room didn't turn out to bad either.  Maybe I should be moving into this room.
I mean does he really deserve a fire place?
here is heading down the hall to the master bedroom.
Maybe I went a little over board on the can lights
My parents giant bed will go up against this window wall.
The question is do you think my mom can gather enough clothing to actually fill her closet?
